Scripture for the Week:  Hebrews 11:6, 39

"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him…

These were all commended for their faith…”

Quote for the Week:

“Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”  Martin Luther King, Jr.

Today is Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday and a national holiday is held to remember the man and the principles that set him apart from other people.  Dr. King was first of all a man of faith, the same as his father.  I believe “God commended them for their faith” even as God also wants to commend you as a person of faith.  It’s unwise and untrue to say that faith in Jesus Christ is irrelevant in the way Dr. King lived his life, in the principles he espoused, in the results from his leadership, or the impact he had on society, especially the civil rights movement.  Dr. King was a person of faith and God commended Him!  To honor him, you might ask, what is the role that faith plays in my life, in my work?  How does faith shape my thoughts about my influence with my family, friends, community and the culture around me? Does my faith inspire courage?  Does my faith motivate me to do what I need to do to benefit others?

Whether you are considering your personal quality of life, your family, your business, or your Church, be sure that you are thinking as a person of faith.  Then, remember Dr. Martin Luther King’s quote ““Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”

Today, be a person of faith.  Take a step of faith toward being the person God wants you to be, doing the things God wants you to do.  God will commend you with His presence and favor.
