Scripture for the Week:

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come”  (II Corinthians 5:17)

Quote for the Week:

"Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right."  -  by Oprah Winfrey

A New Year is a wonderful opportunity for New Beginnings!  Think of the New Beginnings that mean so much in life…going to college;  your wedding;  the birth of a child; a new job; the founding of a new company; a fresh start after a difficult time in life.  The list could go on and on.  God is good!  The New Beginnings that He gives us mark many of the highlights of life.

The New Year unfolds with the freshness and potential of the dawning of a new day and opening of a new year with the amazing opportunity to think about our lives with a new point of view.  This year, think about a focus on being God’s friend, like Abraham was (Exodus 33:11).  Take a fresh look at where you and your loved ones will invest your time, energy, love and resources.   Make a list of your “core values” and the top of the list put, “I will live as a friend of God”.    Ask yourself, "What really matters to me?"  My family?  My relationship with God?  My work or profession?  My hobbies?  What are your interests?  Where does your passion and energy for life really come alive? What feeds your enthusiasm for life and makes you wake up in the morning with a smile?

Remember, if you marginalize God in your life you will miss the best part of the journey through this year!  If you set as a goal to enjoy God and build your “friendship” with God, He will show you great and mighty things that you do not know (Jeremiah 33:3), and unfold a life that is filled with His goodness and favor (Jeremiah 29:11).   In tough times remember that Jesus calls you His “friend” (John 15:15).  He is there for you as your “friend”.   Think with newness as you enter this year.  God is giving you the best of His heart; give him the best of your heart too.  You can count on Christ!  Make sure that Christ can count on you!  Our prayer at New Beginnings is that God would bless you with that close, wonderful friendship that delights your heart and fills your life with good things and blessings throughout the year.
